That this House:
Notes the concern of the Port Stephens community and diving fraternity about sand build up on the reef off Halifax Park which is threatening marine life, and causing sand to build up on Little Beach boat ramp.
Notes Ports Stephens Council has applied for Port Stephens/Great lakes Marine Park Authority permission to move migrating sand from western end of Shoal Bay beach to the eastern end.
Call on the Minister for Climate Change and the Environment to expedite this desperately needed approval.
Calls on the Government to hold discussions with Port Stephens council regarding funding of this work and extending the current study of sand movement in the mouth of the Myall River for a long term solution.
