Nelson Bay Chamber wins regional award

Port Stephens MP Craig Baumann today congratulated the Nelson Bay and District Business Chamber on winning the NSW Trade & Investment Business Development Organisation Award.

The NSW/ACT Regional Achievement and Community Awards, which aim to put the spotlight on successful regional business chambers, councils, community groups and events, tourism projects, and unsung heroes, were held at Tweed Heads on Saturday 5th November 2011.

“The NSW Government is proud to sponsor the NSW Trade & Investment Business Development Organisation Award and I’m delighted that Nelson Bay and District Business Chamber has been recognised for its work,” Mr Baumann said.

“The Chamber helps to create a business environment that enables all business groups to work together for the benefit of the area.

"With more than 120 members, the Business Chamber has created community events such as Tastes at the Bay, Sculptures by the Bay, Festival of the Sea and the Blue Water Country Music Festival, helping to stimulate the local economy with tourism initiatives in low ‘tourist seasons’ throughout the year.

“The Chamber continues to pioneer the Brand Nelson Bay project, which highlights the opportunities to build business and build a brand which positions Nelson Bay as the heart of Port Stephens.”

The Regional Achievement and Community Awards Program is presented by PRIME7 and the Commonwealth Bank and recognises groups, business, individuals and communities who play a vital role in enhancing the social, environmental and economic prosperity of rural NSW and the ACT.

Nelson Bay and District Business Chamber won a $5,000 AwardSaver Account from Commonwealth Bank and a hand-crafted glass trophy.

The Awards are also proudly supported by the Land Newspaper, Local Government and Shires Associations and Sirromet Wines.
