Port Stephens MP Craig Baumann has welcomed the inclusion of Richardson Road in the list of the top 100 roads to have their speed limits reviewed as part of the NSW Government’s audit of speed zones. NSW Roads Minister Duncan Gay today announced that as part of the audit of speed zones the Government committed to review the top 100 roads, nominated by the community, by the end of March 2012. More than 27,000 people visited the Safer Roads NSW website and more than 2,600 submissions came from across the state. Mr Baumann said the inclusion of several local roads was good news for local motorists. "An excessive number of speed changes is maddening for any driver and this audit is about striking the right balance between ensuring we have the right speed zone for the road condition without an unnecessary number of speed changes," he said. The information provided by the community has helped the NSW Centre for Road Safety prioritise the corridors to be reviewed. The local roads to be reviewed include: • Pacific Highway (Port Stephens and Great Lakes) • Richardson Road (Port Stephens) • Adelaide Street (Port Stephens) • F3 (Hunter Region) Mr Baumann encouraged people to continue visiting the Safer Roads NSW website to provide comments and feedback. Feedback can be provided by going to www.rms.nsw.gov.au, clicking on the Roads tab and following the Safer Roads NSW website link.
