Port Stephens MP Craig Baumann has welcomed the lodgement of a development application for the $15 million Raymond Terrace HealthOne GP Superclinic at Raymond Terrace. "This is great news for the Raymond Terrace and Medowie communities that this project is now firmly back on track and will be bigger and better than ever," said Mr Baumann. "The previous Labor Government kept the community waiting for this much needed facility for five years after it was promised. "Now, with the injection of Federal Government GP Superclinic funding the facility will offer more doctors and nurses and access to other health professionals which my community desperately needs." Mr Baumann, who has been vocally campaigning for the HealthOne facility since 2007, said the new facility will make it easier for families to access health services under one roof without the need to travel to Maitland or Newcastle. "As well as GPs, nurses and visiting health specialists the community will have access to a range of new services such as public dental, pathology, renal dialysis and aged and chronic care." Tenders are expected to be called for the project in mid 2012 with the facility expected to be completed by late 2013. "This is an exciting time for the local community and I look forward to the completion of this much anticipated community facility."
